I grew up in San Francisco in the 1950s, when ladies dressed for lunch in their mink stoles and white gloves. I was only a girl, but on special occasions, I was invited to join them. My favorite place was the Compass Rose at the Fairmont Hotel, where a beautiful and gracious life mattered.
I think that is where my love affair with style began—and it has never left me.
I have always believed there is something magical about bringing people together beautifully: flowers from my garden, candles glowing, and turning the everyday into a ritual of beauty and grace.
And, of course, sharing it all with my husband, my friends, and now, my Socialites.
